Once again there is a lot of information in today’s reading. The verses that stick out to me are 9 and 10 where it says, “9 So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” Our Father in heaven wants to bless us, He really, really does! We need to be bold in asking Him for blessings and know that in His plan He has nothing but the best in store for us, even when it’s not necessarily what we think we want.

I’m with you – those verses hit home tonight and was exactly the encouragement I’ve needed. Because I’ve been struggling with some past hurts that are being restimulated by a present circumstance – it is really, really good to have this reminder that God wants to give us good things – even though at times those things seem hurtful – he’s really just protecting us from worse things. I think I might print and post those verses at my desk and car – I really, really need to internalize them to the core.
Love the blog
I love how Jesus is reading these guys the riot. Insulting them in just about every way he could and then “One of the religion scholars spoke up: “Teacher, do you realize that in saying these things you’re insulting us?””
He said, “Yes, and I can be even more explicit. You’re hopeless, you religion scholars! You load people down with rules and regulations, nearly breaking their backs, but never lift even a finger to help…..You’re hopeless, you religion scholars! You took the key of knowledge, but instead of unlocking doors, you locked them. You won’t go in yourself, and won’t let anyone else in either.”
I am on suck a kick of seeing Jesus as a bad ass. He’s alway portrayed as mild-mannered. This interaction blows that out of the water. I love it. THe religious leader is like, “Hey, um, you’re really insulting us. Did you know that?” And Jesus says, “Yeah I do. And as a matter of fact I’ve got more to throw at you.”
While I enjoy seeing the justice in the situation, it always convicts to never become that type of believer.
Jesus as a bad “a”, nice, but I love it!!! Well said, Sarah!!
