Some the the most important verses in all of Scripture are found in the following passage, 6 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7 ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” These passages are central to the Christian faith. Without Christ’s resurrection, our Faith would be just like other religions that simply look to strong ethical systems or paradise and the afterlife. Only Christianity has a God that loved us so much that He became human so He could die for His people to be raised from the dead to provide salvation. Resurrection is important because without it we would not be able to conquer death. Only a loving God would do that for us.
“What comes next is very important: I am sending what my Father promised to you, so stay here in the city until he arrives, until you’re equipped with power from on high.”
This is so important for us to remember. He tells the disciples what they are going to go do, but he tells them to wait until the Holy Spirit arrives. So often, we get the sense that God’s got something for us to do, so we rush out and do it before he even has the chance to give us the power, grace, release (whatever word you want to use) to go and do it. Knowing what to do is important, but Jesus reminds us that knowing when is just as if not more important.
Yeah, but that requires patience… Something I have very little of! 😉
It’s a great point, though. Waiting on Jesus is incredibly important in knowing how to fulfill his perfect plan. The good news is that His plan will be fulfilled no matter how badly we mess things up!
Amen to that!
