It is hard to wait on God sometimes. We want Him to provide us with what we want and when we want it. It’s easy to get bogged down in the waiting and not be productive. In verse 7 it says, Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains. This verse is specifically talking about Christ’s second coming, but the verse also applies to waiting on the Lord in general. Whether we are waiting on healing, our finances to get better, or that relationship; we must still be patient and wait on God’s timing! Further, there is plenty of work that still needs to be done and we don’t need to sit around doing nothing. We should still be productive!
“That’s because God cares, cares right down to the last detail. And since you know that he cares, let your language show it. Don’t add words like “I swear to God” to your own words. Don’t show your impatience by concocting oaths to hurry up God. Just say yes or no. Just say what is true. ”
So comforting. God cares to the last detail. This is right in line with what I posted on James 4. God’s timing. Waiting with patience. There’s a lot that must be worked out in each of us, and it takes a lifetime. With our focus on our relationship with God, he will do the work in us. Sometimes he has us actually do something, sometimes he sends someone to help, and sometimes he just works a wonder in our hearts. But he knows how each of us tick and what will cause us to grow, change and become more like Jesus.
And as a side note: let your yes be yes and your no be no. Can Nashville please learn this? 🙂
