Psalm 127 is a great reminder to me that nothing really matters if it is not centered around God. Verse 1 says, Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. Whatever I do outside of God’s protection and leading is done in vain.
I was struck by the 2nd verse in 127: “It is in vain that you rise up early, and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives sleep to his beloved.” I don’t ever recall coming across that verse before. The futility in striving striving striving, because God wants to give us rest.
