We are back to Psalms for a few days and in today’s reading the verse that stood out to me was Psalm 37:4, Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. The only way to really delight in someone is to experience great pleasure in their presence. This can only happen when we get to know that person very well. So, in order to delight in the Lord we must get to know Him very well. As we’ve said a few times this past year, it is all about the quality of the relationship we have with God that really matters.
Psalm 37:7 – Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act.
The absolute hardest thing on the planet for me to do. Period.
As a side note: The NLT puts in a footnote that says this is a Hebrew acrostic with each stanza beginning with a successive letter of the Hebrew alphabet. Must’ve been some writing that David really wanted to remember so he gave himself a trick. When I read it with that in mind, it takes on a much more personal meaning and gives more insight into the heart of David.
That is great information, Sarah! It made me go back and read it again. Thank you!
