I have a couple of thoughts today from a couple of different verses. The first one is from verse 17, Now if we are children, then we are heirs–heirs of God and co‑heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. My thought is simple in that I feel privileged to be called a co-heir with Christ. I am so undeserving of this, yet Christ willingly provided it to me through His sacrifice.
The second thought is from verse 26, In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. My pastor talked about this verse a few weeks ago. Even when our minds are troubled to the point where we don’t know what to ask God in our prayers, the Holy Spirit intercedes on our behalf. This doesn’t mean I should be lazy about my prayer life, but it does mean I don’t have to be perfect in the way I communicate with God. In fact, I don’t even have to use words as long as I make myself available to Him. The Holy Spirit is so powerful in my life and yet I feel like I don’t even use a fraction of what He is capable.
What can we say about all this? If God is on our side, can anyone be against us? 32 God did not keep back his own Son, but he gave him for us. If God did this, won’t he freely give us everything else? 33 If God says his chosen ones are acceptable to him, can anyone bring charges against them? 34 Or can anyone condemn them? No indeed! Christ died and was raised to life, and now he is at God’s right side, [e] speaking to him for us. 35 Can anything separate us from the love of Christ? Can trouble, suffering, and hard times, or hunger and nakedness, or danger and death? 36 It is exactly as the Scriptures say,
37 In everything we have won more than a victory because of Christ who loves us. 38 I am sure that nothing can separate us from God’s love—not life or death, not angels or spirits, not the present or the future, 39 and not powers above or powers below. Nothing in all creation can separate us from God’s love for us in Christ Jesus.”
Only thing to say about that is praise the Lord.
Amen!!!
