I don’t have much to say about today’s reading, but I do find it interesting in verse 21 – 23 where it talks about how the city of Babylon will never be heard from again because most people think the city was completely destroyed and does not exist anymore so therefore prophecy from Revelation is untrue. The reality is it still exist in the country of Iraq, though a tiny fraction of what it used to be. Before Saddam Hussein was overthrown, he had begun rebuilding the ancient city on top of old ruins and in some cases restoring them. Even more interesting, he started to inscribe his name on the bricks in imitation of Nebuchadnezzar. One of the frequent inscriptions reads, “This is built by Saddam Hussein, son of Nebuchadnezzar, to glorify Iraq.” Well, enough about that. Like I said, I just thought it was interesting…
