I have two observations from the reading this morning. The first one comes from Genesis 3:20, Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living. I have read this passage on numerous occasions and this is the first time I realized that Adam had not name the womanuntil this point. It wasn’t until their fall that he named her Eve. Not really sure of the significance, but I found it fascinating.
My second observation comes from Genesis 4:7, “If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.” This is a very simple truth, but it is the most difficult thing we face in our lives. Sin is not something that is difficult to find. You simply have to open your mind to evil and it comes willingly. With the help of the Holy Spirit we must master it. Evil in this world is easy to come by, it takes no special skills. But obedience takes discipline and faithfulness to follow God’s leading in our lives.
Hmm. That is an interesting observation about Eve. I hadn’t noticed that either.
I love how God always asks questions. He knows the answers, but he gives them all a chance to actually answer for themselves. When they hide from answering him, he then calls them out on it. A good way for us to handle situations as well…especially with kids ;).
