Today we read the shortest chapter in the Bible. It is also the middle chapter of the Bible., Psalm 117, 1 Praise the Lord, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples. 2 For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord. Paul quotes from this Psalm in Romans 15:11. While God brought salvation for His people, Paul also wanted to show how God’s salvation is given to all people, no just the Jews.
How fitting that this is the middle chapter and the shortest. The message of the entire love story of God toward mankind wrapped up succinctly and centrally located for all who seek. Kind of interesting that this is the middle chapter. Could be pure coincidence, but it sure it a heck of a lot better than “And Jehoachim ate breakfast”. For the geeks out there wondering what this whole God thing is and they decide to find the middle point of the Bible (because you know tons of people have done that)? They actually find an answer.
Very true Sarah! I’m sure a lot of people have done that and it’s a great message to read.
