The Bible invites us to praise God, but sometimes we don’t know how to do it. Psalm 149:3-5 gives us several suggestions, 3 Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp. 4 For the Lord takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory. 5 Let his faithful people rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds. God enjoys having relationship with us. It is less important how we praise Him and more important that we take the time to do it.
This stood out to me.
2:13 Don’t rip your clothes
to show your sorrow.
Instead, turn back to me
with broken hearts.
Again we see in the Old Testament that God is not concerned with religious acting – he wanted their hearts. He has always wanted our hearts.
