Deliverance, Trust

In Revelation 15:3-4 the angels sing the song of Moses, 3 and sang the song of God’s servant Moses and of the Lamb: “Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the nations. 4 Who will not fear you, Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.” The song of Moses celebrated Israel’s deliverance from Egypt (Exodus 15). The angels sang this song because it celebrates the deliverance of God’s people from the power of Satan. We should not have to wait until the end times to celebrate the fact that God delivers us through pain and suffering. God is in control and He wants nothing but what is best for us.

Obedience, Trust

As believers we know God will ultimately triumph over all the bad things in this world, but we must be patient for His timing. Revelation 14:12 says, This calls for patient endurance on the part of the people of God who keep his commands and remain faithful to Jesus. The secret to patience is trust and obedience. We can only control the things we can control knowing God is in control over the rest.

Holy Spirit

Today’s reading caught my attention when I read Revelation 13:9-10, 9 Whoever has ears, let them hear. 10 “If anyone is to go into captivity, into captivity they will go. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, with the sword they will be killed.” This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of God’s people. Endurance in the midst of suffering is hard. But it helps to know God is always by our side and the Holy Spirit is always in us.

Redeemer

The verse that stood out to me today was Revelation 12:12, Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short.” Evil in this world works very hard to get shots in while it can, because in the end, God will reign and the devil knows it.

Trust

There were no verses that stood out to me today; only the overall concept of today’s reading. When the seventh trumpet sounds, God’s judgement will no longer be partial, but complete. God is in control and while it may seem as though God is not in control of the craziness of this world, in the end He will reign over it completely.

Glory

In today’s reading the verse that stood out to me is Revelation 10:7 But in the days when the seventh angel is about to sound his trumpet, the mystery of God will be accomplished, just as he announced to his servants the prophets.” There are many mysterious things about God. One day all those mysteries will not only be accomplished, they will also make sense. God’s plan is perfect and it all leads to His glory.

2014 Day 180 – John Piper: Prayer Causes Things To Happen

Prayer

God asks us to pray, not because He needs us to ask, but because it is a privilege to interact with the creator of the universe. We are children of God and He wants us to have a personal relationship with Him where we interact with Him and ask Him to intercede in our lives.

Blessings

In today’s reading what stood out to me was the level of suffering that will be experienced in the end times. We are so used to having quick fixes that we don’t realize what it would be like to live in constant pain. There are verses in today’s reading that describes pain lasting for 5 months. Revelation 9:6 even says, During those days people will seek death but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them. They will experience agony so great that death is a welcome alternative. Let us all be grateful for the peace and relative lack of suffering we experience in our lives today. When we feel that life is too hard, let us be reminded how blessed we are that we don’t have to experience the level of suffering described in these passages.

Righteousness

I don’t have much to say about today’s reading other than a simple observation: God’s judgement is severe. While it may not seem fair, it is just.

Salvation

Today’s verse that stood out was Revelation 7:10, And they cried out in a loud voice: “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.” There is only one way to salvation and that is through the saving grace of God through the perfect lamb of Jesus Christ and the guilt of sin can only be removed through Him.
