2016 Day 351 – Psalm 43

Faith, Trust

It is not always easy to do the right thing. But when we do what is right, we are justified from fallout. In Psalm 43:1 the psalmist says, Vindicate me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation; rescue me from deceitful and wicked men. God’s acceptance of our actions is all the justification we need.

Relationship

The poetry of Psalm 42:1 is beautiful, As a deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. David recognized water was a necessity for life. He also recognized that God is just as important as water in our lives. We must all crave God and a relationship with Him as much as we crave anything that gives us life.

Blessings, Servant

The Bible is filled with God’s concern for the poor, weak, and helpless. God wants us to share His concern. In Psalm 41:1 David begins with, Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; the Lord delivers him in times of trouble. As God has blessed every one of us, we should in turn bless others. Our generosity should reflect God’s generosity for us in all aspects of our lives, but especially when it comes to giving.

Blessings, Love, Protection

If we were to stop long enough to think of all God has done for us, we would never be able to remember them all. In Psalm 39:5 David says, Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare. Not only are there too many things to remember, but there are things God has done for each of us that we don’t even realize. Praise God for his never ending protection and unlimited blessings on each of our lives.

Eternity, Obedience

If each of us knew how much time we had left in this lifetime, we would live it differently. Life is really short in the light of eternity. In Psalm 39:4 David cries out to God and says, “Show me, O Lord, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting is my life. David acknowledged how fleeting our time is and how quickly it will all end. We are not promised tomorrow, so we need to make sure we make the most of today and every day.

Love, Mercy

There are times when we all sin and there are consequences to sin. But there is also nothing wrong with asking for mercy from those consequences. David recognized this in Psalm 38:1, O Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath. While David knew punishment for his sin would come, he asked God to not punish him in His wrath. While we all know God doesn’t work that way, it is comforting to know God loves us and is not in the business of looking for ways to hurt us. In the end, God loves us and ultimately wants what is best for us.

Blessings

There is a right way and a wrong way to succeed. The right way involves hard worth through a strong character and integrity. The wrong way comes through cheating and stealing from others. In Psalm 37:7 David says, Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. When we do the right things and wait for God’s timing, He blesses us and we can be proud of our accomplishments through Him.

faithfulness, Love

David, even with a limited understanding of astronomy, knew how infinite the heavens were. In Psalm 36:5 David uses the infiniteness of the heavens to describe God’s love for us, Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the sky. It is this unfailing and endless love God has for each of us if we simply choose to believe and accept it. God cares for us more than we can ever imagine.

Faith, Trust

David knew God was always going to protect him no matter how powerful was the enemy against him. In Psalm 35:10 David praises God by saying, My whole being will exclaim, “Who is like you, O LORD? You rescue the poor from those too strong for them, the poor and needy from those who rob them. When powerful forces come against you, remember God is more powerful than they could ever be, and He will never leave your side.

Faith, Hope, Protection, Trust

When we trust in God to protect us in hard times, He delivers us. When the Bible talks about “fearing” the Lord, it means we respect Him and trust Him. He never stops sheltering us from this crazy world if we simply believe in Him and His ability to deliver us.

The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.

Psalm 34:7
