Faith, Obedience

Riches are meaningless in the eyes of the Lord. Proverbs 28:6 says, Better a poor man whose walk is blameless than a rich man whose ways are perverse. God does not need our money. What He wants is our obedience and our willingness to be used by Him to impact the lives of others for eternity.

Encouragement, Trust

Surrounding yourself with people who challenge you and hold is accountable is one of the most valuable things you can do for your spiritual walk. Proverbs 27:17 says, As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. Having people who are willing to encourage you through constructive challenge is the best ways a friend can help us grow.

Obedience, Wisdom

Harsh words in Proverbs 26:11, As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his folly. We must learn from our mistakes or we are destined to repeat them.

Gifts, Obedience

God has given each of us our own gifts, yet many of us envy other people’s gifts over our own. Proverbs 25:14 says, Like clouds and wind without rain is a man who boasts of gifts he does not have. Boasting about fruits which are not our own is pointless. While there are some gifts which are more visible than others, there are no unimportant gifts, and they are not made possible without the existence of all gifts. Do not waste your time working on gifts which are not your own. Embrace the gifts God has given you and work to fully utilize it for His service.

Faith, Strength, Trust

Those who are truly strong will show it when times are good and when they are bad as well. Proverbs 24:10 says, If you falter in times of trouble, how small is your strength! This isn’t a question, it is a statement and an indictment on our strength if we fall apart at the first sight of trouble. More importantly, we are not alone. God is always near us and allows us to draw strength from Him if we are simply aware and willing to do so.

Wisdom

Arguing with a fool is pointless. Proverbs 23:9 says, Do not speak to a fool, for he will scorn the wisdom of your words. The more you try to reason with a fool, the more you are dragged into their foolishness. It is better to walk away and save your frustration.

Love, Relationship

Our accomplishments in this world make us no more or less important in God’s eyes. Proverbs 22:2 says, Rich and poor have this is common: The Lord is the Maker of them all. God created us all equally and loves us all just the same.

Wisdom

I need to have Proverbs 21:23 on my mind at all times. He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity. How many times have I made a bad situation worse by opening my mouth. Self control is the key to wisdom.

Truth, Wisdom

God has created each of us with the ability to see and hear truth. It is up to us to be willing to open up to the truth with our God-given abilities. Proverbs 12:12 says, Ears that hear and eyes that see – the Lord has made them both. Let us not allow ourselves to be blinded by the truth.

Faith, Trust, Wisdom

Few people like to ask for help and even fewer like correcting instruction from someone else. But Proverbs 19:20 says, Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise. Only a fool rejects wise counsel from others. God places people in our lives to help guide us and move us in the right direction. Be humble, accept it, and be thankful for it.
