Psalm 57

In today’s Psalm, David shows that even when facing trials, his faith is strong. In Psalm 57:7 David says, My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music! Though our hearts may be heavy when we struggle, God’s strength never falters. We can rest firmly in His protects and praise Him through it all.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you and your families! May God bless you in the new year and may you always remember who is in control and loves you. God’s plan in perfect even when things seem out of control. Trust in Him because He cares for you!

Fear is normal; we all feel it at some point in our lives. Even David felt fear. However, in Psalm 56:3 David says, When I am afraid, I will trust in you. David knew that mortal man could only do so much and God was his protector. His enemies may win a battle on occasion, but the war would be won by God in the end.

The very last sentence in the last verse of this Psalm says, But as for me, I trust in you. This says it all. No matter what is going on around us, we must trust in God and His perfect plan. At times, it may seem like there is nothing but chaos around us, but God does not work in the chaos. We must learn to trust in the periphery and know God is always at work.

God is our protector. In Psalm 54:5 David makes this clear, Let evil recoil on those who slander me; in your faithfulness destroy them. This is a warning that God’s intention is for honesty and integrity. Everything else will be dealt with in kind.

In today’s reading, David says in the first part of Psalm 53:1, The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” To deny the existence of God is to ignore the obvious. It is easier to deny His existence than to accept His presence in our lives. I am thankful for my personal relationship with God and for His involvement in my life. Without Him I would not be who I am today.

God is worthy of our praise. In Psalm 52:9 David says, I will praise you forever for what you have done; in your name I will hope, for your name is good. I will praise you in the presence of your saints. God gives us all what we need. He is good by nature and is not the reason for evil in this world but instead, He is the hope for overcoming darkness and bringing us into the light.

We are all aware of our sinful nature. Some people choose to ignore it or blame their environment or circumstances, and some look for grace, mercy, and a changed heart. In Psalm 51:10 David says, Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Let David be our example of looking to God for a changed heart and a desire for righteousness through a relationship with Him.

On this day when we normally reflect on the week we left behind and focus on the one ahead, let us remember the true meaning of Christmas; the birth or our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. May we remember we are part of a bigger plan and will of God.

Merry Christmas to you and those you love!

God does not need us or anyone in this world to declare Him king. His authority is eternal with no beginning and no end. Psalm 50:6 says, And the heavens proclaim his righteousness, for God himself is judge. God’s righteousness is declared from above. We can accept it and be a part of His grace and mercy, or we can reject it and miss out.
