Hope, Peace, Relationship

The desire for God should be all-consuming to us. There should be nothing we want more than to have a personal relationship with Him and to do His will. In Psalm 73:25 the author Asaph says, Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. The earthly desires we may have is fleeting. There is nothing here for us that can give us ultimate satisfaction. It is when we look to heaven and the things that impact eternity that we find peace and satisfaction.

Psalm 69

Grace, Love, Mercy, Peace

May we always remember to be a reflection of Christ that helps lead others to Him. In Psalm 69:6 David says, May those who hope in you not be disgraced because of me, O Lord, the Lord Almighty; may those who seek you not be put to shame because of me, O God of Israel. We are not here to judge those around us, but to lead them to a relationship with God through Jesus Christ His Son. If our actions disgrace others and attempts to put them to shame, then we have failed in our role as followers of Christ.

Faith, Peace, Protection

Psalm 23 is one of the most iconic of all passages of scriptures. In this Psalm David is fully submit to God and His power to protect in times of need. In the first verse, Psalm 23:1, David says, The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. There is peace and comfort in knowing God is the provider of all our needs. We may not have all we want, but we can rest assured we will have all we need.

Peace, Protection

There is peace in knowing we have an all-powerful God on our side. In Psalm 20:7 David says, Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. While others find comfort in earthly means of protection, our God is all we need. Trust in Him and His perfect plan and you will find peace.

Peace, Protection

David knew God was always by his side. In Psalm 16:8 David says, I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. The world could be coming down around him with David standing alone, but he always walked as though God were standing right beside him through it all. Let us all live our lives knowing we are not alone. God loves us and never leaves us whether we choose to realize it or not.

Contentment, Joy, Peace

In the third letter from John, he writes to Gaius who is a prominent Christian in the Christian Church. John explains in 3 John 1:4 that Joy comes from the knowledge of the truth and walking with God in that truth: I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. Let us all find joy, peace, and contentment from walking with God regardless of our circumstances.

Faith, Peace, Trust

No matter what is going on in your life, never forget God loves you more than anything. When we feel the weight of the world on our backs, we must remember God is there to help carry the burden. 1 Peter 5:7 says: Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. It is a wonderful feeling when we realize we are not alone and even more amazing when He delivers.

Fear, Peace, Trust

Peter gives us a great reminder about fear in 1 Peter 3:13, Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? While fear can have an impact on how and who we serve, it shouldn’t. God is in control and is able to protect us in any situation. When we trust in God for everything, even when it is our time to leave this earth to be with Him, we can live in peace and just enjoy the ride.

Hope, Love, Peace, Trust

When I was in college I had a great friend who I would see on almost a daily basis. Each time we saw each other we would ask two questions: 1) Are you happy? The answer could be yes or no depending on how the day was going. 2) Are you content? The answer always had to be YES, because we wanted to remind each other that our contentment comes from knowing Christ is Lord of our live and therefore in control. In 1 Timothy 6:6-7 Paul reminds Timothy of the same idea:  6 But Godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. All we have and all we are ultimately comes from God. Happiness can almost seem like a luxury because we live in a fallen world. This world gives us plenty of opportunity to question ourselves and our worth. But when we look to God we see love and our true worth in the light of eternity.

Hope, Joy, Peace

The hope we receive through our relationship with God is what gives us peace regardless of our circumstances. In Romans 15:13 Paul says, May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Through the Holy Spirit living in us we can feel joy and peace no matter what is going on around us if we simply choose to submit to Him. God truly is the God of hope. Everything else comes from the fallen world around us. It is up to us to choose which voice we will listen to.
