2012 Day 365 – Proverbs 30

Protection, Trust

This morning as I read Proverbs 30:7-9, I was reminded of a video blog entry by Francis Chan from 2008. For the record, I do not necessarily agree with his entire notion about money, but it was a powerful thought that really challenged me. It made me think about how little I rely on God and how I need to trust in Him more than my own abilities. If you have time, watch the video and see if it at least challenges you to look differently at God’s provision for you in your life.

2012 Day 355 – Revelation 21

Power, Salvation, Trust

Today the passage that stood out to me was verse 6, He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life.” The notes in my Bible says it best: Just as God finished creation and Jesus finished the work of redemption, so the Trinity will finish the entire plan of salvation by inviting the redeemed into the new creation. It seems almost impossible, but with God we know all things are possible and He will make it all happen one day.

Grace, Love, Obedience, Trust

We could begin a discussion comparing Postmillennialism, Premillennialism, and Amillennialism, but I will spare us. The important thing about this chapter is that God will reign for all eternity. We tend to get caught up in the minutiae of our lives, however, our scope should always focus on what matters in the light of eternity. When Christ comes again it will ultimately be forever. We must do things that bring us closer to that end in mind.

Trust

It’s a pretty gruesome picture of how it all ends for the enemy. The comforting part comes in knowing that God has all of it under control. We are now reaching the back of the book and it really does have a positive ending because we win. God’s plan and will for us is perfect. We need to continue to trust in Him in all we do.

Peace, Sacrifice, Trust

We must always remember that our reward is in heaven. Verse 13 says, “Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.” This chapter shows the saints enduring tremendous persecution and suffering, but they knew they were living for God’s glory and not their own. Their suffering and labor was relieved when they found rest in heaven. We tend to get hung up on finding the easy life here on earth. The truth is it doesn’t exist. We will find rest in our promised reward when we go to be with The Lord eternally in heaven. Until then, remember it is all for His glory!

Verses 9-10 stood out to me this morning, 9 He who has an ear, let him hear. 10 If anyone is to go into captivity, into captivity he will go. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, with the sword he will be killed. This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of the saints. The last part refers to our patience and faithfulness when it comes to God’s timing. Even today, when we feel alone, we need to wait on God for His perfect will and timing to deliver us. God is always with us.

Protection, Trust

In today’s reading I found verse 28 to have an interesting description, I will also give him the morning star. When I did some research it lead me to 2 Peter 1:19 which says, And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. The morning star refers to Christ. The morning star is the first light we see just before dawn when the world is at its coldest and darkest. Christ is the light that guides us out of the world when it is at its bleakest. Follow Him and He will lead you.

Faith, Trust

Verses 14-15 are an interesting set of verses, 14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us–whatever we ask–we know that we have what we asked of him. Notice that the emphasis is on “His will”, not on ours. We should never approach God with the demands we have of Him, but rather we should discuss plans He has for us. If we align our prayers and requests to His will, He will listen to us, which allows us to approach Him with confidence.

2012 Day 324 – Psalm 39, 73

Love, Obedience, Trust

There was so much wisdom in today’s reading in Psalm. The verses that stood out to me the most was Psalm 73:25-26, 25 Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. 26 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Who do we have to take care of us besides God? We love and trust friends and family around us, but in the end the only one who is guaranteed to be there for us is God. We really can not even rely on ourselves because we are imperfect. We can only trust God for perfect wisdom and guidance in our lives. We must trust in Him and know His plan is perfect.

Trust

What do we put our trust in? Psalm 20:7 says, Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. We do not need to trust in anything other that God. He takes care of us in all we do.
