Encouragement, Wisdom

The job of a parent is not to make all decisions for their children, it is to raise them to make good decisions for themselves. Proverbs 22:6 says: Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. Raising children is more about leading and less about dictating them. If we do a good job leading them, they will remember the right and good paths throughout their lives.

Wisdom

Proverbs 17:28 is a timely verse for this political season: Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue. There are too many people arguing over who is the lesser of two evils. When evil is defended, foolishness and deceit is displayed.

Glory, Wisdom

This world tends to value the wrong things more and more each day. It likes to compare each person based on material possessions, or at least the perception of wealth. But Proverbs 16:16 explains what is really important: How much better to get wisdom than gold, to choose understanding rather than silver! You cannot take material possessions into eternity, but you can take the impact you have on others with the legacy you leave behind. Let us all work towards having and sharing wisdom above all else in order to bring others closer to God and bring glory to Him.

Wisdom

It is important to surround ourselves with Godly people who are able to speak wisdom into our lives. Proverbs 15:22 says: Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed. God uses lesson and wisdom learned by others to be leveraged in our lives if we are willing to accept it. Only a fool turns away counsel in favor of learning lessons the hard way.

Knowledge, Wisdom

Being corrected is not an indictment of your knowledge, it is an opportunity to grow. Proverbs 12:1 says, Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid. When we reject constructive criticism, we waste an opportunity to grow. Do not let pride limit you.

Wisdom

A wise person will choose what and when to speak carefully. Proverbs 10:19 says, When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise. Choosing to hold an opinion is not a bad thing. Unless those around us are ready to hear our two cents, it is most likely better to hold our thoughts to ourselves.

Truth, Wisdom

No one has perfect wisdom, but a wise man accepts instruction without being intimidated. Proverbs 9:9 says, Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still; teach a righteous man and he will add to his learning. Those who are unable or unwilling to accept instruction only hurt and limited themselves.

Obedience, Wisdom

God’s wisdom is greater than anything we can receive elsewhere. We must pay attention and stay away from the things that hurt or displease God. Proverbs 6:16-19 clearly states: 16 There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: 17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, 19 a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community. Wisdom is taking knowledge and information learned and through wisdom applying it in our lives. The Bible is clear, it is up to us to apply through wisdom that can only come from God.

Blessings, Wisdom

Through wisdom we gain understanding, but true wisdom can only come from God. Proverbs 3:13 says, Blessed is the man who finds wisdom; the man who gains understanding. When we know we need wisdom and find it through God, we are blessed.

Knowledge, Truth, Wisdom

It is foolish of us to think we can attain true wisdom without the knowledge of God. It is even more foolish to think we can attain knowledge outside of God’s influence in our lives. Proverbs 2:6 says, For the Lord gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. Without knowledge and understanding we cannot have God’s wisdom. It is through our knowledge, understanding, and relationship with God that we have true wisdom and can apply it in our lives, and in the lives of others.
