The last verse in this chapter caught my eye this morning. Verse 18 says, And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever‑increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. The notes in my Bible talks about the glory that Moses experienced when he was in the presence of God and how much more glory the Spirit imparts on believers. By gazing with unveiled minds at the glory of God through the Spirit, we can be more like Him. As that glory penetrates us and allows us to build a deeper relationship with God, we understand how wonderful God is and what He is really like. This helps us change in a progressive experience to become more like Him.
I love the reflection part. We simply reflect God and who he is. Kind of like that aroma thing yesterday.
Random thought for the day. It’s interesting that we all rush to be like Paul in his admonition of others, and yet shy away from identiffying ourselves with the churches he’s talking to. We so want to be on a high horse and we often mistake Paul’s admonitions as him being on a high horse. But then you read everything he said and you see that he’s humble and that he views his work almost as a burden. We believers seem to have played a big role in giving Paul a bad name. We point to passages he wrote regarding godly behavior that was directed only to belie eds while leaving out the parts about grace, love and forgiveness that are intended for both believers and non. We sure known how to muck things up.
Thanks Sarah! I needed your thoughts on this today! I completely agree, Paul does not give us an example of how to judge others, but how to love others. Great point!
