Our sole purpose in life should be to find favor from God. We all want to be recognized for the good things we do. The problem comes when we look for recognition from the people around us instead of the Father. Verses 17-18 says it well, But, “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.” For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends. It is so much better to receive praise from God than it is from people. He loves us and wants to give us praise. He knows we aren’t perfect, nor does He expect us to be, but He does want us to recognize that all glory belongs to Him.
2012 Day 199 – 2 Corinthians 10

I love verse 4: “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.” How reassuring to know that we aren’t fighting the devil with our own power! That’s a battle that wouldn’t certainly be lost. Whether we are fighting strongholds, lies from the enemy, or simply having a bad day, we are going into battle with devine weapons!
Yes!! I love that too.
I love this whole passage! Verse 4, like
John said is such a reassurance of how powerful we are in the name of Jesus!
Verse 12 just summed it up for me. The whole
Chapter could have been only verse 12 and I love the NLT on it:
“Oh don’t worry, we wouldn’t dare say that we are as wonderful as these other men who tell you how important they are! But they are only comparing themselves with each other, using themselves as the standard of measurement. How ignorant!” – AMEN!! What a brilliant description of pride!
