It is good to have a healthy self-worth. We should never think of ourselves as being less than what God has created us to be. At the same time, it is important to take an accurate assessment of ourselves and know that our identity comes from our relationship with God. Verse 3 says, For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. We are only as good as the measure of faith we have in God. We can never have true success without the Father. We may be successful in the eyes of the world, but our true measure comes from how we compare in the light of eternity.
2012 Day 218 – Romans 12

Posted in Daily Reading
The more I read this chapter, the more I love it, and with every different translation/paraphrase I get something completely different out of it.
But what it boils down to is, Romans 12 is a simplified handbook for Christian living.
I know I’m going to butcher this, so I’m apologizing ahead of time:
1. Give your life up to God, then read, study and pray daily to know God’s will. Then act on it.
2. We are all part of one body. Use the gifts God has given you to serve as a part of that body.
3. Love deeply
4. Pray hard, and push forward diligently
5. Serve everyone
This life is no longer ours.
Yep, I think that just about sums it up!
