God’s grace is something we are given freely through Christ’s sacrifice. But it does more that just save us, it also gives us freedom from the power of sin in our lives. Verses 11 and 12 says, 11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self‑controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age. We rely on God to free us from the hold that sin has over our lives and we look to Him as the example of how to live the godly life He intends for us.
He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds. (2:14 NLT)
It’s interesting to me how many times the word “encourage” is used in these chapters. – NLT.
Yes, Graham! We don’t do enough of that. These Christian were experiencing unfathomable persecution and encouragement actually meant a great deal to them. Think of what encouragement could do to us if we just took the time to be deliberate about it to everyone around us.
