As I read this morning, I could not help but think of my wife. From verse 10 where it starts with, A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. She is an amazing woman who deserves to be praised in all she does. I am blessed!
These verses stood out to me
25 She is strong and graceful,
as well as cheerful
about the future.
26 Her words are sensible,
and her advice
is thoughtful.
Perhaps these 2 verses will be my 2013 focus. They are very challenging for me.
She does her own sewing,
and everything she wears
is beautiful.
Apart from the sewing part, I love that there is a focus on a woman’s beauty. It’s not something to be covered or hidden, but something to be accentuated. This is something that I have learned over the last several years in my marriage.
And the final verse:
Show her respect—
praise her in public
for what she has done.
Guys, you have no idea how important this is for us!!! Telling us we are great etc…at home is one thing, but when you brag about us in public, we feel super special! It’s something I try to do for my hubby as well. I know a lot of couples who pick at each other in public. They claim it’s all in fun, but sometimes I’m not so sure. There is power to words both in your own heart, but also in the hearts of those around you. Like James talks about, the tongue is the most powerful weapon. We must truly guard it…especially when it comes to our spouse.
We were having a conversation with our pastor and his wife, and she something that has really stuck with me. We are to be ambassadors of Christ, first and foremost, to our spouse. Maybe that’s my goal #3 for 2013!
Good stuff Sarah! Great advice for us Neanderthals!
Ha!
