As we begin reading the story of Moses, the part that stood out to me is found in Exodus 4:11-12, 11 The Lord said to him, “Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the Lord? 12 Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.” Too many times I limit God’s ability to do great things in my life because of my own perceived limitations. The reality is God created me and can do more than the limitations that exist in my life. When Moses argued with God, he was reminded that God can do anything. The truth is I need that same reminder each day. God is greater than me and is able to anything He wants because He is God.

“Don’t come any closer. Take off your sandals—the ground where you are standing is holy.”
Jamie posed this question last year when preaching about this. What if the command to take off his shoes wasn’t an issue of “you’re not worthy”, but an invitation by God to more fully experience him? Just the thin sole of the sandal was too much of a separation and God wanted Moses to experience him fully.
Makes me wonder how many places I have thin soles on when God has so much more to share with me if I’d just go barefoot.
Wow! I love it! Never thought of it that way.
“After I punish the Egyptians, they will be so afraid of you that they will give you anything you want. You are my people, and I will let you take many things with you when you leave the land of Egypt. 22 Every Israelite woman will go to her Egyptian neighbors or to any Egyptian woman living in her house. She will ask them for gold and silver jewelry and for their finest clothes. The Egyptians will give them to you, and you will put these fine things on your sons and daughters. You will carry all this away when you leave Egypt.”
Can you imagine Moses’s response to this? Imagine you are a slave in the old South and God tells you that not only will you be set free but your owners will give you all their finest things. What?! Impossible! I mean, this is their whole experience! And, gee, when you look ahead, that is exactly what happens.
I’m gonna have to remember this story the next time God tells me He’s going to do something that just seems 150% impossible.
There are some days where there is so much to be said!!! I could write pages!!! But I’m limited myself. No need to know ALL my inner thoughts!
