I’m a little disappointed that our reading plan today took us through the entire book of Philippians in a single shot. There is so much information in this letter from Paul and it is difficult to summarize it all. If I had to pick one verse that stood out to me today it would be Philippians 4:8, Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. This verse is a great summary of where our focus should be in our lives. I feel we tend to focus on the negatives too often; mostly because it’s easy to pick things apart. We should spend our time finding the good and work on multiplying it in all we do.
No joke. This book is full of awesome. Here’s one of my faves:
Chapter 2
12…So work with fear and trembling to discover what it really means to be saved. 13 God is working in you to make you willing and able to obey him.
14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing. 15 Then you will be the pure and innocent children of God. You live among people who are crooked and evil, but you must not do anything that they can say is wrong. Try to shine as lights among the people of this world, 16 as you hold firmly to the message that gives life.
