I know most people have heard of the Duck Dynasty show. I love the show for several reasons. First, because it is entertaining. Second, because they are unafraid to share their lives as believers in a time when being called a “Christian” is not very popular. This short video shows how doing the right thing in the eyes of God is what is important.

What it also shows is that doing the crazy thing when you know God is telling you to do it is the right thing. No part of this story makes human sense, but in the Kingdom of God, it all makes sense. If he’d continued teaching and doing what he was “supposed” to do with his degree, he would’ve never had the impact he’s having now on our culture. Yet another wonderful example of simply living in relationship with God. He didn’t set out to impact Hollywood. He didn’t set out to engage the so-called “culture war”. He set out to have a fantastic relationship with God. He didn’t set out to feed all the hungry children of the world. He made a duck call. The thing he was gifted at, he did and he did it with excellence. As a result, God is blessing him and all those who come into contact with him. It’s another example of DeMello’s philosophy proving true. We end of serving people and sharing Christ with other’s when we pursue the things that give us joy and bring us pleasure…when we are working in our natural giftings. When your life is centered around loving God, doing the things you are naturally drawn to do falls right in line with his kingdom and his story. This idea that we all have to do things that we hate doing in order to serve God is really quite ridiculous. How much of a blessing would I be if I were to “suffer for God” in the nursery? Child services would be there faster than you can blink an eye. We aren’t asked to suffer for God. We are asked to love him, have a relationship with him and live our lives in the light of his love and unending grace.
