I don’t typically watch shows like the X-Factor, but I happened to see this clip and it made me think about the power of positive encouragement. I think too many people are quick to criticize and find fault in others. We all need encouragement at some point in our lives. We should all work towards helping to push others along rather than tear them down. I hope you see the implications of this video the same way I did.

I was actually thinking about this after the Sound of Music on Thursday. Being a professional musician and having a Facebook feed full of musicians ripping the production, and specifically Carrie Underwood, it hit me how much our society rips people apart. It’s almost like we are looking for people to fail. And that desire to see people fail often comes out of a heart full of envy and jealousy. I had to have my own moment of confession that seems to just be continuing as Jesus reveals to me my wrong heart motivations. It’s so easy to become cynical. But we have to fight that. We have to be an encouragement to those around us. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Sarah. The Sound of Music special was one the the things that came to mind for me as well. I wish we were a people who looked for the good more than the bad in people.
