2015 Day 345 – Psalm 10

Faith, Trust

In today’s reading we see the author questioning where God is in times of trouble. It starts with with Psalm 10:1 Why, O Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble? We all feel alone at times and it is OK to question where God is when things are not going well. But we all must continue to have faith that God will act when His time is right. It is not always in our timing, but it is in God’s perfect timing.

God, Honor, Praise

Today we read the last psalm in the book or Psalm. The very last verse in Psalm 150:6 says, Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the Lord. Because God is the creator of the universe, and because He loves us so much, and because He is worth of our praise, we must praise Him with all we are and all we have. Praise the Lord!

Faith, Trust

It is sometimes easy to forget that God was here even bore the earth was formed. We live within the confines of time and space, but God does not. Psalm 90:2 says, Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. God was here before the beginning of our history and He will continue to be here beyond what we can even comprehend. Nothing that is happening to us or around us is a surprise to God. Let us not fret about the little things and instead realize God has it all under control.

Grace

In today’s reading the authors (The Sons of Korah) describe the city of God where all believers will one day gather together to worship our God. It is always interesting to see how the Old and New Testaments are interwoven to tell one story of God’s grace and mercy.

Love

There is nothing better than the love God has for each and every one of us. In Psalm 63:3 David says, Because you love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. God deserves to be glorified. Even our existence is less important than the love God has for each of us. We should be willing to give up our lives because of God’s love for us. And we should be openly sharing about God’s love for us because it is the best thing about our very existence.

Praise

When we struggle with how to worship the Lord, Psalm 149:3-5 has some great suggestions, 3 Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with tambourine and harp. 4 For the Lord takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with salvation. 5 Let the saints rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds. In the end, worshiping the Lord is something we should do wholeheartedly. It should be mentally, spiritually, and physically encompassing. God deserves our praise.

Praise, Worship

Psalm 148 is all about calling all of creation to worship the Lord. Verse 13 sums it up nicely, Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted, his splendor is above the earth and the heavens. There is nothing more worth of praise than the Lord. He created all things and is worth of our praise.

Faith, Relationship, Servant, Trust

Of the three verses in today’s Psalm, verse 134:2 stood out to me, Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the Lord. In all we do for the Lord, let us do it fully and with reverence to Him. By lift our hand to God, not as a public display, but as submission to Him, we fully give ourselves to God’s service.

Relationship, Worship

There is a peace we feel when we are in the house of God. Just being in God’s presence with other believers brings clarity and perspective with whatever we are facing. In Psalm 122:1 David expresses how much he enjoyed being in God’s presence, I rejoice with those who said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.” The closer our relationship is with God and the more we seek Him, the better the experience when we are in His presence with other believers in our time of worship.
