2015 Day 311 – Psalm 46

In today’s reading, God Himself proclaims in Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” No matter what is breaking around us we can know that even if we sit still and do nothing, God is in control. Our peace comes from God and God alone. The sooner we realize that, the happier and more content we will be.

2015 Day 310 – Psalm 62

There is only one way to salvation and it is through a relationship with God. In Psalm 62:2 David says, He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. When we take our eyes off of God, and our relationship with Him, we are swayed in every direction. But when we stand on the power of God, we cannot be moved.

2015 Day 309 – Psalm 138

God loves everyone equally. But unless we recognize His majesty, we do not place ourselves in a position where He can lead us according to His will for our lives. In Psalm 138:6 David says, Though the Lord is on high, he looks upon the lowly, but the proud he knows from afar. Those who are too proud to place God in the proper position of power and authority will miss out on God’s closeness.

God is always watching over us and He is our protector. Psalm 121:7-8 says, 7 The Lord will keep you from all harm – he will watch over your life; 8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. In our modern lives we tend to believe in our own ability to protect ourselves. However, God is ultimately our source of protection no matter how much control we think we may have.

2015 Day 307 – Psalm 23

When we read Psalm 23 we all tend to focus on the part where God is with us in the face of danger. But at the end of the Psalm David talks about God’s real promise to us in Psalm 23:6, Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Because of our relationship with God, He will always follow us even to the point of death, which is not the end, it is simply the beginning of “forever”.

None of us are perfect and we will all sin at some point. But we must not allow our lives to be controlled by sin. Psalm 119:133 says, Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me. When we listen to God’s Word and allow ourselves to be directed by Him, sin can no longer rule over us.

2015 Day 304 – Psalm 119:88-132

When life is more than you think you can take, God is always there to help you through if you just ask for it. Psalm 119:114 says, You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word. True hope and refuge from the things that hurt us can only come from God and His word. Fighting all our battles on our own is exhausting and many time futile. Trust in Him and He will never let you down.

2015 Day 303 – Psalm 119:45-88

We must not be afraid to ask God to bless us and to teach us. Psalm 119:65-66 says, 65 Do good to your servant according to your word, O Lord. 66 Teach me knowledge and good judgement, for I believer in your commands. If we believe God is good and able to make us better people, then we must ask Him to help us. Change does not just happen on its own, it takes desire, effort, and a willing heart that is not afraid to ask God to change us.

2015 Day 302 – Psalm 119:1-44

Psalm 119 is the longest book of the Bible and it hold an immense amount of truths. Which is why we will break this chapter up over the next four days.

Relationship with God comes from spending time with Him in His word and in Prayer. And there is no better way to have God close to you that to have His words memorized. Psalm 119:11 says, I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Hidden (keeping) is a perfect way to keeping sin at bay. For this reason we should all be inspired to memorize scripture. But memorizing it alone will not deter sin if we do not put it to work in our lives. This is why we say God’s word is a “living” word. It should be a guide for every day of our lives.
