Grace, Love, Mercy, Reflection, Salvation

On this day when we normally reflect on the week we left behind and focus on the one ahead, let us remember the true meaning of Christmas; the birth or our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. May we remember we are part of a bigger plan and will of God.

Merry Christmas to you and those you love!

2016 Day 359 – Psalm 50

Grace, Mercy, Righteousness

God does not need us or anyone in this world to declare Him king. His authority is eternal with no beginning and no end. Psalm 50:6 says, And the heavens proclaim his righteousness, for God himself is judge. God’s righteousness is declared from above. We can accept it and be a part of His grace and mercy, or we can reject it and miss out.

2016 Day 345 – Psalm 38

Love, Mercy

There are times when we all sin and there are consequences to sin. But there is also nothing wrong with asking for mercy from those consequences. David recognized this in Psalm 38:1, O Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath. While David knew punishment for his sin would come, he asked God to not punish him in His wrath. While we all know God doesn’t work that way, it is comforting to know God loves us and is not in the business of looking for ways to hurt us. In the end, God loves us and ultimately wants what is best for us.

2016 Day 323 – Psalm 19

In today’s reading, it is interesting to see David’s request of God in Psalm 19:13, Keep your servant also from willful sin; may they not rule over me. Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression. We all sin, it is part of our nature, but willful sin require premeditation and a decision to sin. David asks God to keep him from willfully choosing sin. We must do the same. We will never be perfect in this lifetime, but we have the ability to control what we choose to do in order to glorify God. By God’s grace we are holy in His eyes because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ regardless of the sin in our lives.

Grace, Mercy

God loves His creation, but He hates sin. In Psalm 11:5 David says,  The Lord examines the righteous, but the wicked and those who love violence his soul hates. While God has grace for us all, He will never accept sin. Praise God for forgiving us of our sin and allowing us to have a true relationship with Him.

2016 Day 308 – Psalm 6

Psalm 6:1 begins with O Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath. David was not perfect and at times he knew he deserved God’s punishment. But he still requested God’s mercy. While God requires justice and judgement for sin, He is also loving and merciful in His correction of us in our sin. Through Christ God expressed His loving kindness in His forgiveness of our sin instead of giving us what we really deserve.

Mercy, Protection

We can all rest assured when we call God, He hears us. In Psalm 4:3 David says, Know that the Lord has set apart the godly for himself; the Lord will hear when I call him. As believers we should all be confident in God’s willingness to hear our call for help because of His love for us.

Grace, Mercy, Repentance

Every time I read Proverbs 26:11, it is meaningful to me, As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his folly. Once you have learned a hard lesson, don’t be a fool and repeat the same mistake. Accept God’s mercy and grace, then move on and don’t come back.

Grace, Mercy, Righteousness

It is hard to recover from unrighteousness. Proverbs  25:26 says, Like a muddied spring or polluted well is a righteous man who gives way to the wicked. Once you give into evil, it is hard to clear your life from its affects. But through grace and mercy, Christ can cleanse us and bring us back to righteousness.

Believer, Grace, Mercy, Repentance, Salvation

At times, we may think God moves slowly when it comes to answering our prayers. But it is important to remember that God is not on our timeline, nor does He move according to our will.  2 Peter 3:9 says, The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to parish, but everyone to come to repentance. God moves in accordance with His will and timeline to give all of us time to find Him. It may seem as though people are no longer looking for God, but He is not about the numbers. He is simply waiting on all who are willing to believe and come to Him.
