Psalm 145:8-9 stood out to me today, 8 The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. 9 The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. I am so thankful for a God who is slow to anger. He shows me compassion and gives me mercy regardless of whether I deserve it or not. Praise God for loving me.
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” (Psalm 56:3 NIV). This is so true for me–How quickly I trust him when times are bad or aren’t going my way. I pray more, ask more, believe more. But how many times have not one those things when times are good? When I’m comfortable (i.e. not afraid) I’m much more apt to do thing “on my own.” It’s convicting but challenges me to push in to him more, regardless of the situation.
Great point, John! We should constantly remember that God wants to be a part of our entire lives, not just the parts where we feel we need Him. The truth is we are lost without Him; we just happen to make it on our own sometimes.
