Love, Patience, Prayer

God is always there for us when we need Him. He listens to every word when we ask Him for help and He answers us according to His will. David recognized this in Psalm 66:20 Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me! God deserves our praise for may reasons, but especially because He listens and answers our individual prayers and our prayers as a body of believers who wait patiently for God’s perfect plan.

Redemption, Salvation

God is able to forgive a multitude of sins. There is no sin or amount of sinning that God cannot forgive. In Psalm 65:3 David recognized this, When we were overwhelmed by sins, you forgave our transgressions. Forgiveness of sins is available to all. We were redeemed by the blood of Christ. We simply have to believe and accept the love of God through Jesus Christ His son.

Adoption, Blessings, Jesus, Love

Last night our community group from church started a new study in Ephesians. This will be an in-depth study of one of the most densely packed letters from the Apostle Paul to the church in Ephesus. As we started the study last night, one of the guys made a really interesting observation about Ephesians 1:5, which starts at the end of verse 4, In love, 5 he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will. The observation was this: by being adopted, we skip to the front of the ancestry line of inheritance. We are  not the great, great, great…. grandchild of the King, we are the adopted child of the King. We have direct access. What a blessing it is to have direct access to our Father in heaven through Jesus Christ His Son. And what an interesting way to look at it, don’t you think?

Praise, Trust

When people speak against us, whether it is true or false testimony, it still hurts. David experienced this more than anyone in the Bible with Jesus being the only exception. Yet he trusted in God and found God to be his refuge. In Psalm 64:10 David encourages all of us with the following passage: Let the righteous rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in him; let all the upright in heart praise him! No matter the circumstance or who stands against us, know that the Lord stands with us and provides the shelter we all need when the world seems to be against us. Trust in God and know He is with us always and remember to praise Him for it always.

Faith, Protection, Trust

When David was hiding in the desert from his enemies, he longed for a friend he could trust. He found that trustworthy friend in his relationship with God. In Psalm 63:1 David says, O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in the dry and weary land where there is no water. When we find ourselves feeling all alone, remember God is always with us and will never leave us alone. May we always thirst for God as intensely as David did when he was all alone in the desert.

Faith, Protection, Trust

When we face trouble, we may be able to find shelter and rest in other distractions, but God is the only place we find eternal peace if we look to Him and trust in His perfect plan. David recognized this in Psalm 62:2, He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. There is no doubt about who alone David felt was his protector. Let this be an example to us when we face trouble. God will never leave us. We may lose focus on Him, but He will never lose focus on us.

Love, Protection, Trust

David was one of the most capable men in the Bible. He was known as a man after God’s own heart. And no one knew more about needing God’s protection, comfort, and love than David. In Psalm 61:1 David calls out to God, Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. David did not ask this out of doubt, but out of confidence that God would always be with him. Let us use the example David has set before us and remember God’s infinite love and desire to always be with us.

Glory, Trust

David was not afraid to be specific with God about how he wanted God to be delivered trials in his life. Ultimately David believed and trusted that God would always deliver him from any situation. In Psalm 60:5 David says, Save us and help us with your right hand, that those you love may be delivered. David had no doubt in God’s ability or desire, so he trusted in God with all his heart and gave all the Glory to Him.

Faith, Hope, Strength

In Psalm 59, David took the time to praise God for protection during times of persecution. In Psalm 59:17 he says, O my Strength, I sing praise to you; you, O God, are my fortress, my loving God. David calls God his provider of strength and his fortress where he could find comfort. God is this for us as well. When we feel alone and lack the strength to face rouble in this world, God is there to provide protection and strength for us to face it all.

Faith, Justice, Trust

Psalm 58 was written by David when justice was twisted by men who were supposed to be in authority. David prayed for justice when there was no sign of justice to be found. David’s example to us is to rejoice in knowing justice will triumph in the end because God’s judgement is complete and fair. Psalm 57:11 summarizes with, Then men will say, “Surely the righteous still are rewarded; surely there is a God who judges the earth.”
