2012 Day 240 – Proverbs 10

Today we are back in the book of Proverbs. We will be here for the next couple of weeks. In Proverbs 10 there is a lot of great comparisons and examples of good living versus bad. For today, I am picking verse 14 as my verse for the day, Wise men store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool invites ruin. I am constantly working on remembering to choose my words carefully. As a leader at work and at home I must remember the impact my mouth can have on others and how it reflects on me and my level of wisdom.

2012 Day 239 – Psalm 56, 145

Psalm 145:8-9 stood out to me today, 8 The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. 9 The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. I am so thankful for a God who is slow to anger. He shows me compassion and gives me mercy regardless of whether I deserve it or not. Praise God for loving me.

2012 Day 238 – Psalm 111, 112, 113, 116

God will always listen to our voice when we need His mercy. Psalm 116:1-2 says, 1 I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. 2 Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live. God is always responsive to us when we call on Him. When we are discouraged, God is always near and listening to our prayers to give us what is best for us according to His perfect plan.

We must always remember who we belong to. God is in control and He is the one who deserves our praise. Psalm 100:3 says, Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. We belong to Him!

Sorry I am so late in posting this today. I don’t have many thoughts from today’s reading. The verse that stood out to me was Psalm 99:2, Great is the Lord in Zion; he is exalted over all the nations. No matter how bad our government seems to be, God is still on His throne and is still in control.

2012 Day 235 – Psalm 36, 40

God has blessed us so much that we could not recount all our blessings if we tried. David puts it perfectly in Psalm 40:5, Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare.

2012 Day 234 – Acts 28

We’ve come to the end of Acts, which marks the beginning of the rest of the story that leads to each of our lives as believers. When I read this final chapter, I was a little surprised to know there were already some believers in Rome. It just goes to show that the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ does not need me or anyone else to spread, but God has given us the privilege of being used by Him. Any time I feel entitled, I need to remember to count myself blessed by God’s willingness to use me for work in His kingdom.

Today’s chapter was a great leadership lesson given by Paul. It showed how Paul, a prisoner, was able to lead, even the Centurions, during their 14 days in the storm. Often we wait for God to place us in a position of authority so that we can be influencers. In reality, God’s power and Holy Spirit living in us is the only influence we need. We must be willing to be used by God in all circumstance and not wait for positional power in order to impact the lives of people around us.

Paul’s ultimate purpose is to bring others to the saving knowledge of Jesus. Paul is the example of using all circumstances to bring people to Christ and he shows it in verse 29, Paul replied, “Short time or long–I pray God that not only you but all who are listening to me today may become what I am, except for these chains.” May we all never let an opportunity pass us by to share the gospel of Christ.

There is not a lot to share about today’s reading. The only think I kept thinking about is how much attention is drawn to the Gospel when it is done in the right way. Paul was always respectful and worked within the rules of his society in order to draw attention to the Savior. Once again Paul is a great example of the right way to draw people to Christ.
